Business and Communication Systems (BCS) offers pupils the opportunity to study a new subject at GCSE. This course combines ICT skills with Business Studies, providing life-long skills for any pupil aspiring to succeed in the business world.
The course is split into three stages, focusing on business context, developing communication systems, and ICT skills needed.
Pupils gain knowledge and understanding of; how businesses are structured; characteristics of successful business people and types of organisations. Learning about laws that affect companies enables pupils to analyse and reflect upon rights of employers and their employees, as well as the considerations needed when identifying environmental, social, moral and ethical impact.
Pupils experience how companies use software to effectively communicate within their own teams and with their stakeholders. Through web-design, formal document structure and comparisons of latest methods of communications, pupils are able to analyse the suitability of communication systems and provide both drawbacks and benefits depending upon a business's needs.
